Davao's Finest wins ABTC VisMin Eliminations, secures spot in national finals
The ASEAN Barista Team Championship (ABTC) VisMin Eliminations took place on May 9, 2026, at MAFBEX Davao. Five regional teams competed for a spot in the national finals, with Team Davao’s Finest securing the top position. Ilonggo Brewthers followed as the 1st Runner-Up, also earning a place in the next round. The Philippine Coffee Board organised the event, drawing teams from Davao, Bukidnon, Sultan Kudarat, and Iloilo. Each team had four members tasked with preparing 20 coffees in 15 minutes and 15 coffees in 10 minutes. Judges included seasoned baristas and food and beverage professionals, some of whom had previously represented the Philippines in past ABTC competitions.
Team Davao’s Finest claimed victory, advancing to the national finals scheduled for June 11 at MAFBEX Manila. Ilonggo Brewthers, as the 1st Runner-Up, will also compete in the upcoming finals. The overall champion and 1st Runner-Up from the national round will then represent the Philippines in the ABTC 2027. Supporting partners for the Philippine Coffee Board in forming the next national team include Blu Coffee Distributors, Silca Coffee Roasters, Philippine Airlines, and Unilab.
The winners will now prepare for the national finals on June 11. The top two teams from that event will go on to represent the country at the ABTC in 2027. The competition continues to highlight the skill and teamwork of baristas across the Philippines.
