Woolworth Mansion Finally Sells After 14.5 Years, $40M Price Drop

The Woolworth Mansion, a grand Gothic-style townhouse at 4 East 80th Street, has finally found a buyer after 14.5 years on the market. Originally listed at $90 million, the mansion sold for just under $50 million, marking a significant price reduction.

Built by Frank Winfield Woolworth for one of his daughters, this is the largest of three townhouses he constructed in the area. The mansion's unique architecture and lavish interior may have contributed to its delayed sale. It boasts a dining room that can accommodate 50 guests, 14-foot ceilings, a wood-paneled library, and three kitchens. Massive stone fireplaces and a baronial staircase add to its opulence. Despite the mansion's grandeur, the buyer's identity remains unknown.

After nearly 15 years, the Woolworth Mansion has sold for just under $50 million, a substantial reduction from its original asking price. The buyer's identity has not been disclosed, leaving the new owner of this historic and lavish townhouse a mystery.
