West Elm & Rent the Runway Launch Home Goods Rental Service

West Elm and Rent the Runway have teamed up to launch a home goods rental service this summer. This marks the first time Rent the Runway has expanded beyond clothing and accessories, and West Elm's first foray into rentals. RTR Unlimited and RTR Update subscribers can now choose from 26 different bedroom or living room 'bundles' from West Elm. These include items like pillows, throws, shams, quilts, and coverlets. This partnership allows West Elm to gauge customer reaction to hosting temporary decor in their homes. Renting home goods has been gaining traction in recent years. Startups like Fernish and Feather have already established furniture rental services. Even Ikea plans to join the trend. West Elm sees this as a more sustainable and cost-effective shipping and delivery option compared to larger furniture products. The new home goods rental service is set to debut this summer. It will be interesting to see how customers respond to this new option from West Elm and Rent the Runway.
