Walmendingerhorn Gondola to Close After 2025/2026 Season for Major Rebuild

The gondola lift at Walmendingerhorn in Kleinwalsertal will close after the 2025/2026 winter season. A full rebuild is scheduled for the following year, with work led by the Bergbahnen Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal company. The project forms part of a wider investment plan to modernise the area’s cable cars.

The existing gondola lift at Walmendingerhorn has served skiers and visitors for years. Its final season will run in 2025/2026 before demolition begins. The lift company has allocated around €26 million for the complete rebuild.

Once finished, the updated gondola will provide faster and more reliable access to Walmendingerhorn. The €26 million investment reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing visitor experience. The modernised lift is expected to operate for decades after its 2026 debut.
