Ukrainian Billionaire Snaps Up Monaco's Priciest Apartment for $550M
Ukraine's richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, has bought the Monaco apartment, and it is often referred to as the crown jewel of the Mareterra district in the principality.
With a net worth of around $7 billion, it's no surprise that Akhmetov is able to afford such a luxurious and prestigious property in such an incredible location.
As you might expect, too, this Grand Prix apartment has all the luxury you would hope for from a city like Monaco.
How much did Ukraine's richest man pay?
Akhmetov reportedly paid at least $550 million for this incredible apartment.
But this is far more than just your regular apartment, luxurious or otherwise.
The property is spread across 21 rooms and 2,500 square meters.
If the size doesn't grab you, then the features will definitely take your breath away.
A private swimming pool, jacuzzi, and eight parking spots are just some of the highlights.
If being in Monaco itself wasn't enough, then the fact that it is located right on the waterfront makes it even better.
Astonishingly, a single square meter of the property costs $221,000, and is worth more than a Bentley Bentayga SUV.
Even by Monaco standards, this location is out-of-this-world luxury.
The property overlooks the Monaco F1 circuit
Some of the terraces within the apartment also happen to overlook the Formula 1 circuit.
Monaco has hosted motorsport events since the 1929 Grand Prix.
It was added to the Formula 1 calendar when the series officially commenced in 1950.
This race remains the crown jewel on the F1 calendar, and it likely always will be.
Three-time Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna won the most races here, with six victories.
Two-time world champion Graham Hill also achieved tremendous success, winning the event five times.
Mareterra in Monaco, where Akhmetov's apartment is located, is a relatively new location.
Akhmetov will have an incredible view of the Portier corner on the circuit, plus the entrance to the tunnel.
