Nigeria’s Youth Minister Wins Award for Transforming Economic Opportunities

Hon. Ayodele Olawande, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, has received the Excellence in Youth Development and Leadership Award. The recognition came from Billionaire Realtors Group (BRG) for his work in empowering young people through skills training, entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion. The award ceremony took place at the BRG Excellence Awards 7.0 in Lagos on December 15, 2025.

BRG highlighted Olawande’s leadership in tackling youth unemployment and Nigeria’s housing shortage. His initiatives focus on structured skills assessment, mentorship, and real estate opportunities to boost economic participation. The group praised his policies for bridging gaps in employability and reducing the country’s housing deficit.

During the event, Olawande delivered a keynote address stressing the need for private sector collaboration in creating jobs. His efforts include supporting youth tech hubs, skills weeks, and pilot projects like those in Akwa Ibom. These programmes aim to equip young Nigerians with practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly in real estate. The award specifically acknowledged his commitment to policies that expand economic inclusion. By partnering with businesses, Olawande has pushed for greater youth engagement in sectors like real estate, where structured opportunities remain limited.

The recognition underscores Olawande’s role in shaping youth-focused economic policies. His work continues to prioritise skills development, entrepreneurship, and private sector partnerships. The award also reinforces BRG’s mission to promote youth empowerment as a key driver of Nigeria’s growth and world economics.
