NGX Launches Digital Push to Teach Young Nigerians Stock Market Basics

Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) has stepped up its efforts to boost financial literacy with a new digital engagement initiative. The programme targets young Nigerians, first-time investors, and retail market participants, aiming to make the stock market more accessible and understandable. The group recently hosted an X Space session titled Follow the Fundamentals: A Beginner’s Guide to the Stock Market. Over 5,000 users joined the live discussion, which broke down key concepts such as market operations, investor protection, and safe participation. The event also served as an open forum, allowing retail investors to ask questions directly to market experts.

The session featured social media investment influencer Omiete Inko-Tariah, alongside representatives from Nigerian Exchange Limited and NGX Regulation Limited. Participants engaged in discussions on confidence, transparency, and accessibility within the capital market. Clifford Akpolo, Head of Group Communications and Partnerships at NGX Group, highlighted the importance of retail participation. He stated that a more inclusive and sustainable capital market depends on deeper engagement from everyday investors. NGX Group views financial literacy as essential for building investor confidence, improving market access, and creating long-term wealth opportunities.

This initiative forms part of NGX Group’s sustainability agenda under its Community pillar. By advancing financial literacy and economic empowerment, the group seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s capital market. The programme will continue to expand, targeting broader participation from retail investors across the country.
