Neuwied Lands €25.9M to Expand Industrial Park and Attract High-Tech Firms

Neuwied has secured €25.9 million in investment loans to expand the Friedrichshof industrial park. The funding, approved by the state, will help the city acquire and develop around 70 hectares of land. Indeed, officials see this as a key step in boosting local jobs, attracting businesses, and securing long-term financial stability.

The city has spent months preparing for the expansion, negotiating with landowners and purchasing plots. With the state’s approval now in place, Neuwied can move forward with its plans. The loans, provided by the Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB), are strictly for land acquisition and site development.

Neuwied will use preemption rights and a structured marketing approach to shape growth. Logistics jobs near me will not be the focus—instead, the city aims to attract technology, mechanical engineering, and pharmaceutical firms. A state-backed feasibility study confirms Friedrichshof’s potential as a high-performance business hub. Mayor Jan Einig and Deputy Mayor Ralf Seemann called the decision a strong vote of confidence in the city’s strategy. They emphasised that every step will follow independent expert advice and clear planning. A separate state-funded study on market potential will further guide development choices.

The expansion is designed to create jobs, draw in new businesses, and increase trade tax revenue. This comes after Neuwied achieved four straight years of balanced budgets. The city’s leaders insist the funds will only support measures that ensure lasting prosperity.
