Netherlands' G4 Cities Drive Q2 2025 Housing Boom Through Conversions

In the Netherlands, the four major cities—Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, and Utrecht—lead their respective provinces and COROP regions. The second quarter of 2025 saw an increase in housing units through conversions, with the G4 cities playing a significant role.

The provinces of North Holland, South Holland, and Utrecht, home to the G4 cities, witnessed a boost in their housing stock. Amsterdam and Utrecht, part of the Groot-Amsterdam region, saw a significant rise in converted housing units. Meanwhile, Rotterdam and Den Haag, in the Randstad Zuid region, also contributed substantially to the overall increase.

Breaking down the data by municipality size, the largest cities showed a notable surge in conversions. The Woondeal regions, which focus on affordable housing, also saw a significant impact from these conversions, indicating a positive step towards addressing housing needs.

The second quarter of 2025 brought a substantial increase in housing units through conversions across the Netherlands, with the four largest cities playing a pivotal role. This growth was evident across various regions and municipality sizes, suggesting a positive trend in addressing housing demands.
