National Assembly Eases Path for Military School Graduates to Join NDA

The National Assembly is set to streamline the path for graduates of Nigeria's military-focused schools, including the Nigeria Military School Zaria, Air Force Military School, Military School Jos, Air Force Military School (Girls) Jos, and Navy Military School Ikot-Ituen, to join the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA). A bill to amend the NDA Act has passed its second reading, aiming to facilitate a seamless transition. The bill, introduced by an unidentified lawmaker, seeks to ease the integration of students from these military schools into the NDA. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has thrown his weight behind this move, supporting the integration of military school graduates into the NDA. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, a lawmaker, believes encouraging military school students to pursue military careers will bolster combat strength. The COAS has also stated that the admission criteria for the NDA apply to all Nigerians, including these military school graduates. The bill to amend the NDA Act is progressing, with the potential to enhance the military's recruitment process and strengthen its overall combat capabilities.
