Mystery Hacker Buys $22.9M in SOL After Coinbase Breach

A hacker, whose identity remains unknown, has been active since breaching Coinbase in May 2025. The hacker recently swapped $22.95 million worth of DAI for USDC and moved it to Solana, marking the largest sol purchase since the attack.

The hacker's activities began with a breach at Coinbase, impacting nearly 70,000 users and compromising personal data. In May 2025, the hacker stole over 400 million USD in cryptocurrencies. Since then, the hacker has made at least five transactions on-chain.

The hacker's strategy involves swapping DAI for USDC and purchasing solana price, with the hacker buying over 100,000 SOL at an average price of $227. The most recent transaction saw the hacker spend $22.95 million worth of USD Coin on Solana. After these transactions, the hacker left only $0.47 worth of Solana in the wallet address.

Investigations reveal that the hacker carried out the attack by bribing overseas customer-support contractors to extract user records.

The hacker's recent activities show a clear interest in Solana, with significant purchases made since the Coinbase breach. Despite leaving only a small amount of Solana in the wallet, the hacker's overall strategy and next moves remain unclear.
