Malaysia Unveils Its First AI and Robotics Experience Hub in Shah Alam

Malaysia’s first AI and robotics experience centre, the AI World Experience Centre, has officially opened in i-City, Shah Alam. The centre, launched by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang, offers visitors hands-on learning about artificial intelligence and humanoid robots. Developed through a partnership between China’s AgiBot and local developer I-Berhad, the facility marks a new step in the country’s tech landscape. The centre provides an interactive space where guests can explore AI and robotics firsthand, engaging with humanoid robots, testing their skills in robotic games like boxing, soccer, and archery, and observing how trained AI models enable machines to mimic human tasks. It also serves as a STEM education hub, encouraging students to develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The project is the first phase of a broader collaboration between AgiBot and I-Berhad, with Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, chairman of I-Berhad, overseeing the company’s push into AI-driven developments, including plans for Malaysia’s first AI-powered residential high-rise. While details on the tower remain undisclosed, the company’s focus aligns with the ministry’s goal of turning technological advancements into practical benefits for society and industry. At the launch, Minister Chang emphasised the centre’s role as a cornerstone for Malaysia’s AI growth, stressing the importance of responsible AI development and adoption to ensure long-term positive impacts across sectors. The AI World Experience Centre now stands as a key resource for public education and tech engagement, blending entertainment with learning to inspire future innovators while reinforcing Malaysia’s position in the global AI field. The facility’s opening also signals further AI-driven projects in the pipeline, including I-Berhad’s upcoming residential development.
