Lennar’s NorthRiver project brings 2,000 new homes and fire safety to Manatee County

Lennar Homes has received approval to develop 683 acres by Buckeye Road, with plans to build over 2,000 single-family homes and public-use facilities, including a potential fire station. The project, unanimously approved by the Manatee County Planning Commission, aims to address the lack of fire protection for nearby homes.

The development, named NorthRiver, will preserve 99% of its wetlands, with a 30-foot buffer between them and the new homes. Residents like Glen Gibellina have expressed hopes that Lennar Homes will prioritize affordable housing and consider their community's needs.

The North River Fire Protection District will collaborate with Lennar Homes, providing fire alarm services and potentially establishing a fire station on the property. This move is crucial, as around 25,000 to 30,000 homes in the area currently lack fire protection.

The NorthRiver development, with its focus on preserving wetlands and addressing fire protection needs, is set to transform the area. Lennar Homes' commitment to community engagement and the North River Fire Protection District's involvement ensure a balanced approach to development and safety.
