Kuwait's Shuwaikh Beach Tackles Waste Crisis with New Plan

Shuwaikh Beach, a popular spot in Kuwait, has been facing challenges with waste management due to congestion and high waste volume. In response, Faisal Al-Otaibi, Director of the Capital Municipality's Cleanliness and Road Occupancy Department, has unveiled a comprehensive plan to tackle the issue.

The plan, initiated by the Capital Municipality, involves several key steps. Firstly, more garbage containers have been added to the beach area. A total of 20 containers have been deployed, including five large ones with a capacity of 1,100 liters and 15 smaller ones at 240 liters. Secondly, the number of sanitation workers has been increased to 25, ensuring efficient waste collection and management.

The efforts have already shown results. Over 600 bags of garbage and a compactor filled with 8-12 tons of waste have been removed from the beach. To maintain this progress, municipal teams will be present at Shuwaikh Beach 24/7.

To enforce cleanliness and discourage littering, a fine of 100 dinars has been imposed for dumping garbage in unauthorized areas. Violators will be referred to the Public Prosecution. With these measures in place, the Capital Municipality aims to keep Shuwaikh Beach clean and enjoyable for visitors.
