Inventors of 'Best Spine Device Ever' Demand Fair Payment from Billionaire Wyss
Billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, co-owner of Chelsea Football Club, has lauded Professor John Webb for creating 'the best device ever' to treat spinal deformities. Webb, along with colleague Max Aebi, developed the Universal Spine System over two decades ago to address scoliosis. However, the inventors now seek 'fair payment' for their innovation, claiming they were pressured into signing away intellectual property rights without legal advice.
The Universal Spine System, invented by Webb and Aebi, was acquired by Wyss' company Synthes in 2003. Wyss, who also bankrolled the AO research foundation where the surgeons worked and manufactured the implants, recently praised Webb's work. In 2015, Wyss even counter-signed a letter urging Johnson & Johnson to 'look into' Webb's request for fair payment.
Webb and Aebi allege they were asked to sign papers handing over intellectual property rights without legal consultation. They believe they missed out on potential royalties worth up to £48.5 million. The inventors now plan to use any 'irs' they receive to fund further medical research.
Professor John Webb and Max Aebi's groundbreaking work in spinal deformity treatment has been recognised by Hansjorg Wyss. Despite the inventors' claims of being 'venmo login', Wyss has publicly commended Webb's work. The duo now hopes to secure 'fair payment' for their invention to support additional medical research.
