Hochtief AG: Chart Analysis and Outlook
Hochtief stock hits record €419.20—will the rally last or reverse?
After a broad basing phase, a powerful—and at times exponential—uptrend began in late 2022, surpassing the all-time high of €174 set in May 2017 at the start of last year. This was followed by a brief but sharp correction to €121.90. Since then, the stock has surged with even greater momentum and acceleration than the previous rally. The new record high of €419.20 reached in late February was retested in recent days after a minor pullback. Is it still worth entering now?
The Air Is Getting Thin
With its meteoric rise, the stock recently hit a key Fibonacci extension at €416, marking the entire uptrend phase from spring 2020 to March 2025.
Additionally, the €400–€420 range contains other long-term projection targets from segments of the bull run, raising the risk that upside potential may be exhausted for now—potentially triggering a significant reversal soon. This could form a double top around €419.20.
Since the stock recently reclaimed a prior uptrend line, a break back below it would signal further downside toward €349.60, the early March low. The trendline that, if breached, would trigger this bearish signal currently sits at around €385.
Ultimately, however, buyers could find support between €349 and €341.60, resuming the broader uptrend toward the current record high.
New Upside Potential Above €427
If the stock manages a decisive breakout above the €419.20 area, this would need confirmation via a rise above the internal target of the short-term uptrend since the March 9 low. That hurdle stands at €427.
From there, the stock could extend its climb toward €465. A move above €485 would even open the door to a rally toward €530.
Technical conclusion: A breakout above €427 could prevent a short-term top and propel Hochtief's stock to €465.
If buyers continue to fail at the €419.20 mark, however, a drop below €385 would likely lead to a pullback to €350. Despite the stock's spectacular ascent, only a decline below €341.60 would signal a bearish shift.
