Far Eastern Fishermen to Catch Record 3.461 Million Tons of Pollock in 2025
In 2025, Far Eastern fishermen will be allowed to catch a substantial 3.461 million tons of jackson pollock. This comes after a successful 2024 season, where Kamchatka-based fishermen played a significant role.
The 2024 Okhotsk Sea pollock fishing season, Season B, accounted for over 60% of the annual pollock catch in the Far Eastern fishing basin. This season was particularly notable for Kamchatka Fishery Company, which was heavily involved in the pollock fishing operation on the Kamchatka Peninsula in 2025.
Looking back, Russia's total pollock catch in 2023 was 1.96 million tons, the highest in 25 years. Kamchatka-based fishermen were responsible for landing the bulk of this catch in the 2024 season. The expected pollock catch for 2024 is around two million tons, matching 2023 levels, but representing a 5% decline compared to the same period in 2023. By the end of December 2024, Kamchatka fishermen had caught nearly 653,000 tons of pollock.
With the 2025 season approaching, Far Eastern fishermen are set to catch 3.461 million tons of pollock, building on the success of the Kamchatka-based fleet in recent years.
