EU’s LIFE Programme funds 132 green projects with €358 million boost

The EU's LIFE Programme has awarded grants totalling over €358 million to 132 projects across Europe. These projects aim to support the EU's transition to a clean, circular, and resilient economy by focusing on areas such as nature and biodiversity, circular economy, climate resilience, and clean energy transition.

The LIFE Programme has allocated significant funds to various initiatives. €82 million is dedicated to clean energy transition projects, with 48 projects accelerating this process. Notable projects include the Heath LIFE project in Sweden, LIFE for RIVERS in Poland, and LIFE RePeat in Germany. Additionally, €225 million has been allocated for nature and biodiversity projects, with 34 projects focusing on habitat restoration and species conservation. Other notable projects include LIFE RiverFlow in Latvia and InBioSoil in Spain for circular economy, and LIFE COOL ZONE in Hungary for climate resilience.

Furthermore, €133 million is dedicated to circular economy and quality of life projects, with 31 projects supporting a clean and resilient economy. Lastly, €96 million is allocated for climate resilience and mitigation efforts, with 19 projects aiming to strengthen climate resilience.

The LIFE Programme's funding will support projects that cover a wide range of environmental and economic concerns. These projects are expected to contribute significantly to the EU's clean, circular, and resilient economy.
