EEC Implements Trade Measures: Ban on Imports, Extended Restrictions, and Streamlined Exports

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has announced a series of trade measures, including a temporary ban on imports and extensions of existing restrictions.

The EEC proposed a three-month ban on importing drywall and stone products from non-Eurasian Economic Union countries. This move, initiated by Russia, aims to protect local industries. Meanwhile, the Commission extended the ban on exporting steel billets and semi-finished products for another six months, further supporting domestic steel producers.

In a separate decision, the EEC approved the automatic licensing of the export of plywood from Kazakhstan, streamlining the process for Kazakhstani exporters. Additionally, the Commission extended anti-dumping measures against seamless hot-rolled pipes from China and galvanized sheet from China and Ukraine, safeguarding regional industries from unfair competition.

These decisions by the EEC highlight the region's efforts to balance trade and protect local industries. The temporary ban on imports and extensions of export restrictions are set to impact various sectors, while the streamlined export process for Kazakhstani plywood is expected to boost local exports.
