Boldr Secures $3.2M to Transform US Homes into Power Plants

Boldr, a London-based energy tech startup, has secured $3.2 million in seed funding to expand its presence in the US HVAC market and beyond. The company aims to address the rising demand on the US power grid by transforming homes into active grid participants.

Boldr's innovative approach leverages the existing installed base of HVAC systems, EVs, home batteries, and rooftop solar to unlock distributed, flexible capacity quickly and at lower cost. The company's smart heating and cooling systems, along with a companion app for real-time climate control and bill management, enable homes to act as mini power plants.

The funding will support Boldr's mission to ease pressure on the US grid, which is under strain from increased electrification and usage. By scaling its residential power-plant model, Boldr plans to boost US grid flexibility and reduce costs for homeowners. CEO Madi Ablyazov envisions each home as a potential power plant, providing peak capacity to the US grid while helping families lower bills and optimize usage.

Boldr's seed round was oversubscribed, attracting investment from venture capital funds across North America and Europe. With the new funding, the company will expand its reach in the US HVAC market and extend its platform to additional high-load household devices. Boldr's innovative approach offers a promising solution to the growing demand on the US power grid.
