Amazon Unveils New Kindle Scribe with AI, Color Screen, and More Echo, Fire TV Devices
Amazon has revealed a slew of new devices, including an upgraded Kindle Scribe with AI capabilities and a color screen. The tech giant also introduced new Echo devices and Alexa+-powered Fire TVs at a New York presentation.
The Kindle Scribe, now in its second generation, boasts a larger, glare-free E Ink screen and is lighter and faster than its predecessor. The standout feature, however, is the integration of AI. Users can now ask generative AI for book summaries or character information. Amazon has also introduced the Kindle Scribe Color, featuring a color E Ink screen, starting at $629.99. The standard Kindle Scribe will be available for $499.99 later this year.
Amazon's expansion into a connected home ecosystem was evident with the unveiling of four new Echo devices and a series of Alexa+-infused Fire TVs. The company aims to create a seamless interaction between devices using AI and Alexa+. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro and Wired Doorbell Plus, priced at $249.99 and $179.99 respectively, are now available for pre-order. These devices offer enhanced features such as 2K and 4K resolution, AI facial recognition, and pet reunification capabilities.
Amazon's latest offerings underscore the company's commitment to AI integration and expansion into the smart home market. The Kindle Scribe's AI upgrade, after nearly two decades, signals a new era for the e-reader. Meanwhile, the Echo and Ring devices further cement Amazon's position as a leader in the connected home space.
