ABB and Cydome unite to revolutionize maritime risk management with AI

ABB and Cydome have joined forces to improve risk management for shipping companies. The partnership combines ABB’s weather routing and voyage data with Cydome’s AI-powered risk engine. Both firms aim to give operators a clearer, more detailed view of potential threats across their fleets. The collaboration focuses on merging ABB’s operational insights with Cydome’s cybersecurity and risk assessment tools. ABB’s weather routing services and voyage optimisation data will feed directly into Cydome’s AI system. This integration helps detect anomalies more accurately by cross-checking global data with real-time sensor readings from individual vessels.

Cydome’s CEO, Nir Ayalon, explained that the partnership boosts risk visibility and supports better decision-making. The system allows shipping companies to assess and prioritise risks based on their operational impact. ABB’s Michael Greavette added that modern shipping’s digital shift means vessel operations and cybersecurity can no longer be treated separately.

The combined solution provides broader visibility, sharper risk prioritisation, and stronger decision-making tools for customers. Cydome’s mission—to create a secure backbone for ship operations—now includes ABB’s operational data alongside its existing cybersecurity feeds. The new integration offers shipping companies a unified approach to managing risks across fleets and onboard systems. By blending ABB’s voyage data with Cydome’s AI-driven analysis, operators gain a more complete picture of potential threats. The result is a system designed to improve safety, efficiency, and operational resilience.
