West Kazakhstan Oblast launches 54 new industrial projects in 2023
West Kazakhstan Oblast is expanding its industrial and economic activity with a series of major projects. In 2023 alone, the region plans to launch 54 new facilities worth nearly 430 billion tenge, creating over 2,400 jobs. These developments follow a year of strong investment and trade growth. In 2022, the region completed 30 investment projects totalling 30.8 billion tenge, adding more than 480 jobs. Trade with Russia also grew, reaching $835.1 million—an 8.8% increase from the previous year. Over the past three years, 860 foreign-invested companies have registered in the oblast, with 695 involving Russian capital.
New manufacturing ventures have taken shape in 2023. TerezeStyle LLP began producing wooden windows and doors, employing over 60 people and manufacturing up to 6,000 square metres of products annually. The same plant also makes protective wagon liners for containers, with an annual output of 60,000 units. Another key project is an export-focused plant for bulk bags, which now employs over 100 workers and can produce 6 million units per year.
Infrastructure improvements are also underway. A 58.5 billion tenge agreement was signed to build new wastewater treatment plants in Uralsk, capable of processing 60,000 cubic metres of effluent daily. Meanwhile, ZhaikPetroleum Ltd LLP has started constructing a gas chemical complex for methanol production, with an annual capacity of 130,000 tons.
To strengthen regional ties, a roadmap was signed in November 2022. This agreement with Orenburg Oblast outlines cooperation in trade, science, and culture from 2026 to 2028. The region’s economic push includes new factories, infrastructure upgrades, and stronger trade links. With 54 facilities set to open in 2023 and ongoing investments, West Kazakhstan Oblast is positioning itself as a growing industrial hub. The projects are expected to boost employment and production capacity in the coming years.
