Vladivostok Airport hits record passenger growth despite profit slump in 2025

Vladivostok International Airport saw major growth in 2025, with passenger numbers climbing sharply. The airport handled 3.261 million travellers, a 10% rise from the previous year. International flights alone carried 717,000 passengers—nearly 1.6 times more than in 2024.

Despite the surge in activity, the airport's net profit fell significantly. Financial reports show a 2.6-fold drop in earnings compared to 2024, even as revenue hit a record high. Vladivostok International Airport (VIA) operates with a passenger terminal designed for 3.5 million travellers annually. In 2025, it served 3.261 million people, up from 2.96 million in 2024. The airport's network now covers over 40 destinations, supported by more than 20 Russian and foreign airlines.

Revenue reached 2.3287 billion rubles ($24.6 million) in 2025, breaking the previous record of 2.0806 billion rubles ($22 million) set in 2024. However, operating costs jumped by 24%, cutting into profits. The bulk of income—81%, or 1.89 billion rubles—came from aviation services.

Ownership of VIA is split between major stakeholders. Sochi International Airport JSC holds the largest share at 62.0752%. Levanterra LLC, ultimately owned by the Russian Federation, controls 17.3854%. The airport's financial results for 2025 highlight a mixed picture. While passenger traffic and revenue grew, rising costs led to a sharp decline in net profit. The long-term effects on airlines and route development remain unclear, as no detailed data on international flight expansion has been released.
