Optiemus Infracom Expands Glass Production in India

Optiemus Infracom, a leading player in the Indian electronics sector, has announced ambitious plans for expansion in the glass production industry. The company, which currently operates a facility in Noida with an installed capacity of 2.5 crore units per annum, aims to significantly increase this capacity in the coming years.

Chairman of Optiemus Infracom, Ashok Kumar Gupta, has revealed plans to set up another factory in Noida with an installed capacity of 10 crore units. In addition, Gupta has announced plans to establish a factory in the South with an initial installed capacity of 15 crore tempered glass units. These expansions are part of Optiemus Infracom's larger strategy to scale up its facility capacity to 20 crore units per annum in 'Phase 2'.

The total sum of investments that Optiemus Infracom plans for all their glass factories in India is approximately 500 crore Indian Rupees. For this expansion project, the company will invest an additional ₹800 crore.

The Noida facility, which was initially invested ₹70 crore, aims to generate direct employment of more than 600 people in the region. The joint venture unit in Chennai, a collaboration between Optiemus Infracom and US-based Corning, is also expected to contribute significantly to employment generation. The unit will produce cover glass, which is used on top of mobile displays. Operations at the Chennai unit are expected to start by the end of 2025.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has praised Optiemus Infracom's expansion plans, stating that India's electronics manufacturing industry has seen a six-time increase in production value, reaching ₹11.5 lakh crore in the last 11 years. Vaishnaw also suggested that Optiemus should increase its research team headcount to 400.

Optiemus Infracom is also planning to launch the 'Made in India' tempered glass brand RhinoTech in September 2025. The brand will offer unlimited replacement facilities during the one-year warranty period.

Stock market investors will likely focus on Optiemus Infracom on Monday, 1 September 2025, following the inauguration of these new facilities. However, the company's shares closed 0.67% lower at ₹556.30 after Friday's stock market session.

It is worth noting that the electronics sector in India has generated direct and indirect employment for 25 lakh people and has recorded exports of more than ₹3 lakh crore. The sector's continued growth and expansion are expected to contribute significantly to India's economy.

In conclusion, Optiemus Infracom's expansion plans are a testament to the growing potential of India's electronics sector. The company's investments in glass production facilities are expected to create jobs, boost exports, and contribute to the sector's growth. The launch of the RhinoTech brand will further solidify India's position in the global electronics market.
