Tehri Lake Festival kicks off with adventure sports and bold tourism plans

The 'Himalayan 0.2 The Tehri Lake Festival' has officially begun, showcasing adventure sports, tourism, and cultural events. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the festival, highlighting its role in promoting Tehri Lake as a future hub for water and adventure activities. The event will run until 9 March, blending sports, environmental awareness, and local traditions.

Tehri Lake, known for its natural beauty, is now being positioned as a key destination for adventure sports. Despite its potential, no official international competitions or foreign teams have yet participated in events there.

During the festival's opening, the Chief Minister announced major infrastructure projects. These include the construction of a ropeway connecting Koti Colony to New Tehri. Additionally, the virtual foundation stone for the Koti-Dobra tourism route was laid, a 15-kilometre stretch costing 318 crore rupees.

The government's vision extends beyond the festival. Over 1,300 crore rupees have been allocated for broader development in the Tehri region. The goal is to transform the area into a leading centre for water sports, adventure tourism, and cultural experiences.

The festival marks a step toward establishing Tehri Lake as a recognised adventure sports destination. With ongoing projects and government backing, the region is set to attract more visitors and investment. The event's mix of sports, tourism, and culture aims to boost local growth while preserving the area's natural appeal.
