SBK Tech Ventures Accused of Failing Startups, Leaving Them Funds-Less for a Year
SBK Tech Ventures, a company backed by the past Awami League government to promote startups, is facing severe allegations and investigations. Six startups have accused the firm of failing to deliver on investment promises, leading to a year-long wait for funds.
The startups, including Markopolo, Fashol, Jatri, 10 Minute School, Arogga, and Solshare, provided equity to SBK Tech Ventures based on its promise to mobilise necessary investments. However, the firm has allegedly not released any money to them. The startups have been waiting for funds for the last year.
The founder of Markopolo, Tasfia Tasbin, has accused SBK's owner, Sonia Bashir Kabir, of having an agenda to 'kill all startups' and doing a PR stunt. Sakib Hossain, founder of Fashol, described the incident as 'irresponsible and damaging', stating it has harmed trust. The startups allege that SBK Tech Ventures Ltd has disappeared and not released any money to them.
SBK Tech Ventures is under scrutiny for failing to repay Tk 15 crore borrowed from a retired army officer and Tk 12 crore from Fiber at Home Limited. The firm is facing cases at home and overseas. Despite investigations, there are no available search results providing information on the current status of these investigations.
The allegations against SBK Tech Ventures have raised concerns about the future of the startups involved. The startups are now in trouble due to the firm's failure to deliver on its promises. The public awaits the outcome of the investigations and the firm's response to these serious accusations.
