A prime property adjacent to Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg's (RBB) headquarters is going up for sale. The building, situated on Kaiserdamm, has housed a hotel, offices, storage spaces and even a bowling alley for decades. Owners rbb media GmbH now plan to exit the real estate business entirely.
The decision to sell follows a review of the company's operations. Anja Mellage, managing director of rbb media GmbH, confirmed that running a hotel no longer aligns with the firm's core activities. The building, constructed in the 1960s, was originally managed by SFB Werbung before transferring to rbb media.
The sale process commenced last year, partly due to the high costs of renovation or redevelopment. While the company has not disclosed the expected price, it has indicated that this move marks the conclusion of its real estate portfolio. No further details have been shared about the building's earlier history or past ownership changes.
The property will now be promoted to potential buyers. Upon sale, rbb media GmbH will no longer retain any real estate assets. The company has not announced plans for the proceeds from the sale.
