Nuremberg's iconic pyramid hotel reopens after a 3.5-year transformation
The Excelsior Hotel Nuremberg Fürth has reopened its doors after a lengthy closure of 3.5 years. The landmark building, known for its striking pyramid shape, now operates under the Radisson Individuals brand by the GCH Hotel Group. Inside, guests will find 104 fully updated rooms alongside a mix of modern and restored vintage furnishings.
The hotel officially welcomed visitors again on March 16, 2026. Renovation work faced considerable hurdles due to the building's unusual design, which required careful structural adjustments. Despite these challenges, the project introduced a cutting-edge climate system to keep indoor temperatures steady at 23°C throughout the year.
The interior now combines sustainable new furniture with carefully restored original pieces. Early interest has been strong, with occupancy rates for upcoming trade fair periods already reaching 80%. The hotel also offers expanded conference facilities, capable of hosting up to 400 attendees. Beyond the hotel itself, the city of Fürth is in discussions to repurpose nearby former clinic buildings. These plans aim to further revitalise the area around the hotel. The Excelsior holds a notable position in the local market, accounting for roughly 8% of Fürth's hospitality sector.
The reopening marks a significant moment for the city's hospitality scene. The hotel's blend of historic architecture and modern amenities is expected to attract both business and leisure travellers. With high early demand and ongoing development in the surrounding area, the Excelsior is set to play a key role in Fürth's future growth.
