Nizhny Novgorod unveils online tracker for 161 stalled housing projects

The city administration of Nizhny Novgorod has launched a comprehensive online platform for residents to track the progress of ongoing residential construction projects. The official website now lists 161 projects, including 21 long-term sites, with detailed information on each. Meanwhile, housing completion volumes in the city have seen a significant drop in the first half of 2009.

The website, 'Your Building Under Construction', offers insights into completion deadlines, construction progress, permitting documents, photos, and comments from the Department of Construction and Investment. Among the projects listed, 400 apartments are being built using municipal funds.

In the first six months of 2009, only 124,000 square meters of housing were delivered, a stark contrast to the 216,000 square meters completed in the same period last year. The mayor has stressed the importance of daily monitoring of the forum to remove any inappropriate comments, ensuring a respectful and informative platform for residents.

The city administration's initiative provides transparency and engagement for residents, allowing them to stay informed about the progress of construction projects in their city. Despite the decrease in housing completion volumes, the website serves as a positive step towards better communication and accountability in urban development.
