New Owner for High-Rise Complex in Göttingen - New Owner for High-Rise Complex in Göttingen
A troubled high-rise complex in Göttingen has a new owner after years of neglect. Hamburg-based real estate firm Sivius took over most of the 400-plus apartments in December 2025. The company has promised a full renovation to improve living conditions for residents at Groner Landstraße 9.
The residential complex near Göttingen Central Station has suffered from severe issues for years. Problems included broken heating, nonfunctional elevators, piles of rubbish, and repeated fires. Despite complaints, the previous management claimed a lack of funds due to unpaid rent—a justification disputed by both the city and tenants’ legal representatives.
The new ownership marks a potential turning point for the long-neglected high-rise. Sivius has pledged extensive renovations, while local authorities monitor progress closely. If successful, the project could provide much-needed improved housing in Göttingen’s city centre.
