MHADA has been providing affordable housing since its founding in 1977. Over the decades, it has built more than 5.27 lakh homes across Maharashtra. The upcoming lottery follows previous years' trends, with 2,000-plus homes offered in 2024 at prices ranging from Rs 29 lakh to Rs 6.82 crore.
The 2023 edition featured 9,367 apartments, mostly in suburbs like Goregaon, Vikhroli, Malad, Borivali, and Powai. This year's lottery will again cover multiple areas of Mumbai, giving buyers a variety of locations to choose from. Homes will be available for different income groups. Categories include EWS (up to Rs 6 lakh), LIG (Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh), MIG (Rs 9 lakh to Rs 12 lakh), and HIG (above Rs 12 lakh). The lottery system removes bias, allowing equal opportunity for all eligible applicants.
The lottery's return after a year's pause brings renewed hope for homebuyers in Mumbai. With 2,500 homes on offer, the scheme aims to meet demand across income levels. Officials will announce further details, including application timelines, in the coming days.
