Jeffrey Epstein's secret bid for two Swiss luxury villas exposed in new files

Newly released docs from the Epstein Files reveal that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein once considered buying two luxury Swiss villas. One of the properties, Villa Rose in Meggen, Lucerne, was previously owned by the late commodities trader Marc Rich. The proposed deals, which never went through, involved high-profile intermediaries and discreet negotiations.

In 2010, former U.S. basketball executive David Stern attempted to broker the sale of Villa Rose to Epstein. Stern highlighted the estate's high-security features and absolute privacy, offering to manage the transaction quietly. Despite Epstein's interest, the purchase was never finalised.

The sprawling Villa Rose covers 10,200 square metres, complete with a boathouse, staff quarters, landscaped gardens, and a wellness centre. A second email mentioned another lakeside home on Lake Zug, which Epstein was also informed about.

A real estate advisor linked to the second home later expressed surprise at being named in the Epstein Files. She stated she had no prior knowledge of any connection between Stern and Epstein.

The docs confirm Epstein's interest in acquiring Swiss homes, though neither sale was completed. The involvement of Stern and the advisor's unawareness of the links add further detail to the case. No further information about the estates or other intermediaries has been made public.
