Tele-Michel to reopen 30 years after closure - Hamburg’s Tele-Michel TV Tower to Reopen in 2031 After Costly Delays

Hamburg’s iconic Tele-Michel TV Tower is set to welcome visitors again in late 2031. The long-awaited reopening follows years of delays and extensive renovations. Three main operators—Imvest Gruppe, Ramp 106 GmbH, and Hamburg Messe und Congress—will manage the site under the Tower-Betriebsgesellschaft (HH Tower Betriebsgesellschaft mbH).

The tower’s revival has faced repeated setbacks since the original 2023 reopening target. Costs have climbed significantly, with the latest estimate nearing €40 million. The city of Hamburg will contribute an extra €2.6 million to cover unexpected expenses.

The Tele-Michel TV Tower will return as a key attraction for both locals and tourists. Its extended opening hours and expanded capacity aim to accommodate high demand. The city’s investment reflects the landmark’s importance to Hamburg’s cultural and architectural heritage.
