Elme Communities advances liquidation with $14.67 per-share payout to investors

Elme Communities, a residential real estate investment trust (REIT), is moving forward with its liquidation plan. The company, which owns around 9,400 apartments and 300,000 square feet of commercial space, has begun selling off its assets in stages. Shareholders recently received a special payout as part of the process.

The board of Elme Communities approved a liquidating distribution of $14.67 per share. This payment was made on January 7th to shareholders recorded as of December 22nd. The decision follows the company’s earlier announcement to sell its remaining nine multifamily properties, including the Watergate 600 development.

Elme Communities continues to execute its liquidation plan through asset sales. The special distribution to shareholders marks a key step in the process. With fewer properties remaining, the company’s operations are expected to shrink further in the coming months.
