Camping World’s Leadership Shake-Up: New CEOs Take the Helm in 2026

Camping World has announced major changes at the top of its leadership. Long-time CEO Marcus Lemonis stepped down from his roles at the start of 2026. The company has since appointed two veteran executives to fill the vacancies left by his departure.

Marcus Lemonis, known for his appearances on TV shows like The Profit and The Fixer, officially left his positions as CEO and board chairman on January 1, 2026. His exit marked the end of an era for the outdoor retail giant, where he had been a prominent figure for years.

The transition saw Matthew Wagner, who had served as president since July 2024, take over as CEO while keeping his president title. Wagner first joined Camping World in 2007 as an inventory analyst before rising through the ranks, eventually becoming chief operating officer in 2023. His long tenure and deep experience within the company made him a natural choice for the top job.

Brent Moody, another long-serving executive, was named the new board chairman. Moody had been with Camping World since 2010, initially as executive vice president and chief administrative and legal officer. Over time, he took on additional responsibilities, including chief operating and legal officer roles.

The leadership changes initially unsettled investors, with Camping World’s share price dropping by 13% in December 2025. Many attributed the decline to concerns over losing Lemonis, whose media presence had brought free publicity to the brand. However, the company’s stock has since stabilised and begun to recover in 2026 as the new leadership settled into their roles.

Camping World’s leadership transition is now complete, with Wagner and Moody taking charge. The company’s share price has rebounded, suggesting investor confidence in the new team. Lemonis remains involved as a Special Advisor, ensuring continuity during the handover.
