Can AI Outperform Real Estate Agents?

AI-powered home sale nets five offers in just 72 hours

A father of three wanted to plan his entire home-selling process using artificial intelligence—and challenge himself in the process. "We repainted a few rooms in the house because ChatGPT said that's where we'd get the highest return on investment," Levine told NBC Miami.

But the AI didn't just tell the American what to do to boost his property's value—it also created a timeline. His family knew exactly when to start packing. Even the online listing for his former home was written by AI.

"When we met with real estate agents, they lacked confidence in the pricing," Levine told Fortune. "ChatGPT gave us more certainty about price levels and market trends." While agents suggested one figure, ChatGPT assured him it was the right move to list the house for $100,000 more than their recommendations.

House Sold in Just Five Days

The property went live online on the AI-recommended Tuesday (March 3). According to Levine, it was an instant success: "I think within the first 72 hours, we already had five offers—which was just amazing." By Sunday, just five days later, he had a signed contract, drafted with ChatGPT's help.

He had a lawyer review the contract, but all other documents were reportedly verified by the AI itself. "We estimate that using these AI tools saved us about three percent of the total sale price—which, in our case, was a significant amount," Levine explained. The house sold for one of the highest per-square-foot prices on the market, despite lacking the best views, the largest lot, or the most modern features in the area.

Levine believes all home sellers could benefit from using AI in real estate transactions: "It doesn't necessarily replace experts," he told Fortune. "But it gives all of us the chance to be more curious and more confident in the decisions we make." The management consultant also shared his success story on LinkedIn, writing: "AI didn't replace expertise—it made me more capable."
